2Sense Shortie: The Year of No Resolutions
I think we all can agree that 2020 was a roller coaster ride. I recently saw a post that said "if 2020 didn't bring out the hustle in you, it was never in you." Truth is everyone hustled this past year whether it was trying to maintain what you have or starting something new. Last year was a challenge. However, it should have also taught us several things that really have nothing to do with tangible things.
Here are a few things of my New Year resolutions and lessons. One of the first lessons I feel everyone should have learned is HUMILITY. So in response the meme that I saw, I would say "if 2020 didn't bring the HUMILITY out of you, it was never in you." Being humble goes a long way and whether things affected you personally or it happened to someone else, it should have pulled at your heart strings. I also have found that I am more appreciative of what I have in front of me. Meaning your loved ones, the home you live in, the job(s) you have, and all the things we may take for granted.
Another lesson I have learned is that all things are temporary including life itself. Having GRATITUDE for what you have in world full of Instagram riches can make it look like you have nothing to show for your hard work. Truth is, social media has a way to make you feel as if you are lacking. Always keep in mind that your life is someone else's goal.
Another big lesson on my list is HEALTH. Health truly is wealth. Being healthy is one of those things that I was forced to realize I was taking for granted. Often times, food is life (LOL!). With the food shortages everywhere, I realized how much I was wasting and how much was going to my waist. Food is for nourishment and to be honest is a luxury that many are not privy to. Eating to live, instead of living to eat has helped me to shape the way I view what I put in my body. Good nourishment helps the mind, body, and the soul in so many ways. I want all the good things to keep me feeling and looking great.
Next up is a big one......MENTAL HEALTH. There is a saying, that "if it doesn't feel good to your mentally, don't do it." This applies to everything: relationships, jobs, events, etc. You have to do what is best for you. We often overlook how we feel mentally and do things we really want to say no to. This can put a strain on you all the way around. Protecting your mental peace is a crucial part of your overall health. There is no price tag for mental peace and clarity. If it doesn't feel good, I am unavailable.
Lastly, FINANCIALLY SAAVY. Due to the pandemic, several people lost their jobs and their livelihood. Learning how to cut corners, save, and also create multiple streams of income for yourself is almost a necessity. I believe the everyday common person is now understanding how big timers have a hand in multiple avenues. Also, we are learning to not just depend on your government officials and your employer alone. Find different things that you love and turn it into a business. Find other side businesses that you can help assist in. Investing is also another way to help your money make money.
There are so many other lessons I have learned last year. Some of which I almost feel like I can't them into words. There are always lessons through storms and hopefully 2021 will be the year we put what we learned into action. What lessons have your learned? Leave a comment below.
