2Sense Shortie: Weight Motivation
So let's face it, weight is not always the most popular topic up for discussion. It literally has an affect on you not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.
As a black woman, being "curvy" or "thicc" is often celebrated. Having full hips, thighs, butt (ash phat! :P) and defined calves is considered the look most desired. Growing up, I was always considered "thick." I do have all those assss.......ets listed above, however, I was always self conscious about the way I looked. Back in the day, stretch pants were the thing. You would never catch me wearing a pair of stretch pants WITHOUT an oversized sweatshirt or sweater. One: I did not like the attention it bought to me and TWO: I wasn't confident in my body type. I am considered a pear-shaped woman which is just small frame with fuller assets in the lower body area.
Now in my 30's, I am the mother of 2 beautiful children in which I absolutely adore. However, they left me with a new body in which I am most definitely trying to find my way back to feeling like myself again. With each pregnancy, I gained +30lbs. My starting weight with my son was 148. After him, I was roughly in the 150's-160's. I started working out and was up to 170 but was pretty lean. Then I got pregnant with my daughter. Starting weight with her was 173. By 9mo, I was 217lbs. After having her, and shedding some of the weight through breast feeding and some stress, I am now roughly about 180's or so. Mind you, I am only 5 foot 4 inches. Not only do I have extra weight, but I also have stretch marks (my poor stomach will NEVER be the same) and cellulite in places I didn't even know you could get it.
Trying to stay motivated with my diet can be a hassle especially when you work full time, you're a full time wife and mom trying to just keep it all together day to day. Staying healthy and focused is my main goal.......................however, I would like to shed some of this unwanted weight as well. -A. Nic <3
