#1 Spoil Me
Great songs such as "7 Rings" by Ariana Grande, and the recently released "Treat Me" by Chloe Bailey, both make it a point to emphasize the importance of not needing to wait on anyone to come around and make them feel good about themselves. It definitely goes without saying, treat yourself the way that you may be hoping or wishing to be treated by someone else.
Instead, how about taking a day and deciding "you know what"? I am going to spoil myself by buying myself at least one item or two that I've been really wanting. It's good to have some retail therapy and to put it simply, no one knows you like you do. On the plus side, you won't have to deal with being disappointed about a gift or with someone being petty and taking it back. Don't be afraid to upgrade yourself, you'll feel great.
#2 Take Me Out Sometimes
Taking yourself out is the best thing that you can do to indulge in self-care. It could seem a bit awkward at first because you may run across others who are in groups of friends or couples that are out having a great time. Once you get over the initial thoughts that make you feel like you're alone, you'll start to enjoy your own company more and more.
You'll no longer need to wait on someone to invite you out to the movies or to that new Italian spot that you've been wanting to try. There's something freeing about getting all dolled up to simply just enjoy your own peace of mind and treat yourself with a good time.
#3 Talk to Me Nice
Practice the art of sweet talking yourself. Try saying all of the things to yourself that you would love to hear from a significant other. Become a fan of yourself and remind yourself how beautiful you are. Learning to be able to receive positive thoughts and affirmations from you (the only one who truly seeks your validation and deserves it) helps you not to seek external validation as well.
Healing and becoming whole starts with you.
Leave notes of positive quotes and/or sayings around your home to read every day.
Write yourself a poem or love letter to show just how much you appreciate yourself for all the things that you do.
Gift yourself with books that aid in uplifting and motivating you to grow.
Sidenote:
A new favorite book that we've absolutely been loving is Heal.Grow.Love. by Pierre Alex Jeanty. This book is a lightweight paperback cozy read that offers poetry aimed at focusing on healing, growing, and loving yourself.
For those crisp autumn evenings by the fireplace, this book is a must-read. Click on the "red" button below to get more information on this book as well as to purchase your copy.
#4 Spend Quality Time with Me
After taking yourself shopping and out to eat, spending quality time with yourself is the next best thing. Take some time to watch a movie that makes you feel good or run yourself a nice bubble bath with candles and music included.
It is during that quality time or what we like to call self-care that you can recharge and relax. You can spend time focusing on those details that make you who you are. Facials, manicures, waxes, and other self-care items are examples of things that will give you that outer glow. It is also important to create an environment of calm so that you can reflect on everything you have accomplished and all that you are.
