I'm Sugar, She's Chique!!!! Get to know us Q&A
Okay sis, so I know we have an about page on our site but we wanted to give our audience a chance to know the faces behind the brand.
Allow us to introduce ourselves. My name is Andrea also known as A. Nic and to the left of me is Patrice. If you can't tell by now, we are two sisters who decided to put our ideas together and start a blog about the things that make us excited: beauty, lifestyle, hair, and fashion.
So we decided to put together a get to know us blog for this weeks posting! Let's get started.
Where are you from?: We were both born and raised in Kansas City, MO. While Patrice still reside in KCMO, I now live in Texas.
How did you come up with the idea to do a blog?: We can talk all day about the topic of beauty, fashion, and lifestyle. Growing up, we loved fashion and beauty and we even had more than our fair share of flops and bops. So, we just decided to put our experiences and our love for beauty into a blog and even throw in some personal stories as well.
What is your favorite topic to write about?
Patrice: Beauty topics come easy to me. I love writing about makeup brands and trends that are currently popping. What I really love to my core, is fashion. I grew up with my style being inspired by music videos and tv shows with my own twist incorporated in that to make it my own style. What I love the most about fashion is the self expression and just creating who you want to be. After all, the world is your runway.
Andrea: I am a self taught makeup artist. I love makeup. Like fashion, you can create a look to exemplify who you want to be in that moment. From beauty, to natural glam, to sfx makeup, you can create whatever character you choose to be. I also love to write about lifestyle topics. It gives me a sense of therapy that I hope helps the next person who feels the same way to know that they not to feel alone.
What is one fashion and/or beauty item you cannot live without?
Patrice: I cannot live without my concealer because it is like magic in bottle. When you are tired, it can help to make you look more awake and brighten up your eyes. A fashion item I cannot live without is a good handbag. Handbags will spruce up any style and is always a classic. A good handbags can be the perfect statement piece.
Andrea: One beauty item I cannot live without is lashes. I live for a good pair of lashes. They make you look dolled up without even trying. My one fashion item would be a great pair of jeans. Jeans are such a legend and they never go out of style. When you find a good pair of jeans that fit your body just right, there is no better feeling. Jeans can be dressed up or down. Always a classic.
Do you like to dress up or down?
Patrice: I love to dress up. My favorite part of dressing up is being able to be creative with your style. Dressing up makes me feel like such a boss. You get to go all out and make a statement without using your mouth. From the hair, to the make up, shoes, and accessories, you just feel good. I call it the Cinderella effect.
Andrea: I also love dressing up and feeling like you own the room. Our mother always said "when you look good, you feel good" and that is something we both have applied to our lives. When you can feel like the belle of the ball, there is nothing that can bring down that high. However, I love a good jumpsuit and sneaks as well.
Are you on time of always late?
Patrice: I am almost always late because let's be real the statement "fashionably late" doesn't exist for nothing, lol. Sometimes the time slips away from me while I'm getting ready. I at least try my best every time to be on time.
Andrea: It depends. I am usually a timely person, however, ya girl got kids! Sometimes things do not always go as planned and you end up late but I always start with good intentions and try to go according to schedule.
What are some of your favorite beauty brands?
Patrice: I use a lot of Fenty Beauty, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and Morphe cosmetics products. I also love, love, love LA Girl's pro concealer. That would be my number one pick concealer. I am also loving BH cosmetics, NYX, and E.L.F cosmetic products.
Andrea: Lately, I have been loving Fenty Beauty products. I have the foundation, concealers, and the setting powder. I also love Morphe cosmetics, ABH, and Urban Decay. I love their velvetizer powder.
Are you an extrovert or an introvert?:
Patrice: I am a true introvert which some extrovert tendencies. I love my alone time and do not mind being a party of 1. When I am around others, I like to speak my mind on topics that are meaningful to me.
Andrea: I am what you would call an extroverted introvert. Like my sister, I love my alone time. I find joy in solitude but I love to talk as well. I just don't like small talk because I start to feel awkward. I personally prefer meaningful conversations especially when they are not one sided.
What is a misconception people have about you?
Patrice: A common misconception people have had about me is that I am stuck up and bougie because I love dressing up. I guess carrying myself with confidence in conjunction with being an introvert, can be misread as looking down on people. When in actuality, I am down to earth and I have a warm welcoming personality once you get to know me. Being an introvert makes randomly walking up to people difficult at times but I do enjoy meeting new people.
Andrea: I get the same misconception from people as my sister does. For whatever reason, people assume that I am very serious, quiet, and that I am stuck up. This is far from the truth. I love to laugh and be silly. I love talking and sometimes I can talk to much, lol. I am not a social butterfly but I love to meet and chat with people. I love hearing about others and their experiences but my introverted side makes me feel to shy to do so at times.
What did 2020 teach you?
Patrice: Like everyone else, 2020 has been a year of turmoil and dismay. One thing I can say, is this past year has made me appreciate what I have but also to minimize. I have learned that I do not need more than what I think I do in order to live. It also made me sit back and reflect on the people I have in my life. To cherish them and also to not be afraid to achieve any goal I set out to do. Life is too short.
Andrea: I will say 2020, has taught me to be humble, to appreciate, to laugh more often, and to lead with love. It is natural to want to more and more of the things we may not even use and that can make it easy to forget that there are some who live with much less, and they are happy. I do not need more possessions, but instead I would like to be happy. Happiness is priceless and so is mental stability. Both of which are needed in life before you can appreciate whats in front of you.
I hope you guys enjoyed learning a little bit more about us. This was a lot of fun and we will definitely do a part 2 in the future. What do you guys think? Please leave a comment down below. Also share with us what it is you learned in 2020. Happy New Year! Cheers to 2021.
