Rice water?!....For hair growth?!

Jasmine Rice

So there is a busy little bee, buzzing around the natural hair community about rice water for hair growth, have you heard?!!!! Well.....according to various sources (and by sources I mean Google and YouTube videos), fermented rice water seems to not only promote growth but thickens the hair as well. I mean, who doesn't want long/thick hair right?! So sis, you know I had to try it out for myself to be a believer.

Now you are probably asking how exactly is this supposed to work. Honey, I have the tea, so grab your cups: So fermented rice water is rich in vitamin A, B1, B6, K, and E, carbohydrates, minerals, iron, selenium, and calcium just to name a few. These are some of the exact same ingredients you will fine in an advertised hair vitamin.

So the recipe is simple; all you need is rice and water. (Duh, bih we know dat!). Ok moving on....Combine the two ingredients and let it sit for 24-48 hours. Secondly, drain the water from the rice, then BOOM, instant hair vitamin in a liquid form.

**DISCLAIMER: whew, chile the smell sis.....is not so pleasant so it is ok to add essential oils for fragrance.**

The instructions were pretty simple as well. Just shampoo and rinse like normal. Then saturate your hair/scalp with the rice water and leave it on for about 20-30 mins. Then rinse thoroughly. Some articles and videos state it is ok to leave on overnight while other suggest it's not a good idea. Since I was a rice water virgin, I decided to stick to the original 20-30 mins as suggested.

My experience: I used the rice water rinse once a week for 4 weeks. I must say my hair definitely felt thicker and looked shinier. As for hair growth, I didn't notice much of a difference. My hair grows pretty fast anyway (thanks to genetics). I truly believe regular hair maintenance care and a healthy diet helps to grow hair long and strong.

Have you tried this method? Leave a comment below and let me know what your experience was like. Did it work for you? Maybe I missed a step......yikes!!!!
