Things I No Longer Care About: (Fashion Edition)
As the years go by and you get older, you start to think about what really matters in life. Some of the same things that used to matter, you realize, why did it ever matter in the first place. If you are in your 30's or above, this is for you. Here are a few things that we no longer care about: fashion edition.
Running Errands = Fashion Show
When we were younger, we used to wear our latest fashions and makeup to run daily errands such as getting gas, washing the car, going to the store, etc. After all, you never know who you are going to run into right?! Now it's completely different. Being cute and fashionable is one thing, but the key word is COMFORT. Now athleisure is a new normal for running errands in our wardrobes. It's casual, "chique", and stylish. You can even dress it up or down, for day wear and convert it into night attire.
Full Set every 2 weeks
There was once a time, where we could not be seen without our nails done. Me?! Seen with dishpan hands?! Oh God, no! Either we are getting a fill or a brand-new set. These sets would be very decorative with painted designs, gems, and long in length.
Don't get us wrong, we love a beautiful full set but now it's a little more simplistic and less often. It is very important to let your nails breathe in addition to saving money. The girlies are raving about press-ons and they're definitely more convenient and elaborate without the elaborate price tag.
Dressing For Others
Style plays a big role in our lives. This one refers back to making every trip out of the house into a fashion show. We would wear our best outfits so that others could stop us in our tracks and shower us with compliments. Also, we would dress according to what was in style, regardless of whether it suited our body type. As long as our favorite celeb made it cool, we had to have it. For example: If you are curvy, low-rise jeans may not necessarily work for you. Speaking from experience here. The emphasis is now on personal style. You need to know what works for your body type. Also, identify colors that match the undertones and tone of your skin. All of these considerations should be taken into account when developing a personal style.
Keeping Up with the Jones
Speaking of wearing what's on trend, this directly falls in line with keeping up with what others are doing. How can we get our hands on what our favorite celebs wear for the simple reason of being able to say, "Look, I have what Kim K has too". Today we wear handbags, clothes, shoes, etc. that work best with our personal style and wallet.
It is a true statement when people say you can make a $10 dollar shirt look like a $100 shirt just by the way you style it. However, I think we can all agree that you should simply wear what you like.
Wearing Heels Everywhere
This is a big one. Nothing makes you feel more feminine and fabulous than wearing heels. We would wear heels to the store, to a party, to a restaurant, just about anywhere. After 30, we still wear heels, just in moderation.
Again, the key word is COMFORT but yet stylish. Also, every heel does not need to be 6 inches or higher. It's okay to wear heels whether they're three inches, six inches, or kitten heels. These days, however, flats and tennis shoes are all the rage. Unless of course, it's time to show up and show out.
What are your thoughts on the things listed above? Do you still practice some of them or agree with them? Leave a comment below and let us know what you think.
I agree, the key now is comfort. I cannot believe I used to always wear heels everywhere. Never again, lol.
